Saint Andre Bessette Catholic Church in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood has an incredible Silent Servant named Kay Montagne. This 82 year old prepares the Hospitality Breakfast, two to four days per week. She creates menu plans from donated food and prepares breakfast for 125 homeless individuals.
Becky O’Neil McBrayer, Director of Community Programs, explains that some days Kay has no kitchen assistants and prepares the breakfast by herself, “but she always makes sure that we have enough delicious and nutritious food to feed every hungry guest that comes to us for relief from the streets.” Kay is described as one of the kindest, most generous and compassionate people she has ever met.
Kay Montagne was presented with the Silent Servant Award by PRM Foundation Secretary Cindy Robert during the St. Andre’ Bessette Church’s Annual Red Door Art Show.
