Jean Pierce

April 2016 – Portland, OR

Since the organization's start (27+ years), Jean Pierce has been an active volunteer with Store to Door by grocery shopping twice a week with all of the other volunteer shoppers.  Amanda McIver, Store to Door Volunteer Manager, explains “Jean comes to grocery shop, rain or shine. Now without the ability to drive herself, she still finds a way to catch a ride to the store. You can find Jean every Wednesday and Thursday pushing her grocery carts around, helping to fill the orders of seniors who cannot do it themselves. At 91 years old, she is actively serving the Portland community and is always glad to be a part of Store to Door’s events and activities. Nothing stops Jean and she asks for nothing in return.  Jean has also served on Store to Door's Board of Directors since 2014.”

Kiersten Ware, Executive Director at Store to Door, described Jean as “the epitome of a Silent Servant, who always deflecting any sort of recognition for her hard work and dedication.

Jean was presented the PRMF Silent Servant Award during the Store to Door Volunteer Appreciation event.
